About Flying Cow

Flying Cow Productions is a small publishing company based in the Texas Hill Country, born in 1995 of an abiding enthusiasm for things Texan. Our interests are in two areas: history and poetry.

Based in a historic Texas community, we began by reproducing one of the prominent buildings: a Sunday House. The first German settlers here were granted town lots as well as outlying acreage. On their town lots, they built what came to be called Sunday Houses, small frame or rock houses used primarily on weekends when they came to town to attend church and shop.

We believe in the power of poetry to chronicle history, as well as to highlight people, geography, weather, and just plain Texas happenings. Thus, the calendar was born.

We are producing our 6th calendar (2004). (see calendar ordering information plus submission guidelines for 2005) We also provide editing assistance on a limited basis to Texas poets interested in sharing costs to publish a chapbook of their work.

We thank poets and historians across Texas for their continued interest in the calendar and in our historical projects.
